Event proceeds will go towards the purchase of an electroencephalogram (EEG) machine to support Rhea Medical's up-coming tele-neurology program. This machine will be utilized to assist the neurologists in the diagnosis and management of various neurological disorders including strokes, seizures, traumatic injury, drug intoxication, and anoxic brain injury. Because of this soon to be implemented tele-neurology program, many of these patients will be able to be treated locally without having to be transferred to another facility.
November 18th & 19th
Our annual Rhea-diant Celebration dinner & auction took place at the historic Trinity Chapel. The theme this year was La Bella Vita, meaning “the good life” in Italian. The following night the Foundation hosted a new event, Saturday Social. This event included live music, trivia, hors d'oeuvres & cocktails.
This year, proceeds from the Rhea-diant Celebration, and Saturday Social went towards the purchase of a Transesophageal echocardiography probe (TEE). TEE is a test that produces pictures of your heart by using high-frequency sound waves (ultrasound) to make detailed pictures of your heart and the arteries that lead to and from it. Unlike a standard echocardiogram, the echo transducer that produces the sound waves for TEE is attached to a thin tube that passes through the mouth, and into the esophagus. Because of the proximity of the esophagus to the upper chambers of the heart, very clear images of those heart structures and valves can be obtained.
